Pricing & Process
Each project is different so contact me first with some details about your work, including your deadline, and I will provide a tailored quote. I usually begin with a short sample edit to assess the work required and provide an accurate estimate.
For dissertations and theses, the standard process and pricing are outlined below.
How the process works
After you get in touch with some details about your project, the process usually works as follows:
1. Send your document
Email your document with the word count, required turnaround time, and any relevant information about your project.
2. Receive a quote
I confirm availability, turnaround time, a clear price, and payment terms. Work starts once the quote and payment terms have been agreed.
3. Proofreading and editing
Your document is carefully proofread or edited using tracked changes so that all revisions are clearly visible.
4. Return of your document
You receive the edited document along with any comments or suggestions.
Pricing
If you contact me with details of your work, I can provide a tailored quote based on a cost per 1,000 words, an hourly rate, or what can be done for your budget.
My standard rate for proofreading is £30 per hour. The time required for an essay or larger project depends on the quality and complexity of the writing. To get a clear sense of your writing style and the work required, I usually begin with a short sample edit (around one hour). This allows me to provide a more detailed assessment and accurate costs. This initial work is charged at my standard rate and forms part of the overall project if you choose to proceed. A quick turnaround may be priced higher. If you have a specific budget in mind, we can prioritise the areas that will be most helpful.
For creative practitioners, publishers and editors, please contact me to discuss how I can support your project.
AI and confidentiality
Your work will be treated with the highest level of care and confidentiality. All files are stored securely using encrypted cloud storage, and I do not upload any documents, images, or personal information to generative AI tools. Your content remains confidential at all times and is handled solely by me.
Generative AI tools are evolving rapidly and raise important ethical considerations for academic publishing. In my role as Managing Editor of an international academic journal, I am closely aware of these developments and the ethical considerations surrounding the use of generative AI in academic publishing.
